The Vikings traded Joshua Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals, and Minnesota got a new quarterback after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles tendon on Sunday.
Joshua Dobbs, who was traded from the Arizona Cardinals to the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, returns to the bench.
The Vikings needed a starting quarterback after Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles tendon Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Dobbs had previously been the Cardinals’ starter, filling in for the injured Kyler Murray.
Dobbs went 1-7 as Arizona’s starter with eight touchdowns and five interceptions.
Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday that Dobbs will not start the next game against Cleveland and will rely on rookie Clayton Thune.
After a bad start to the season, the Vikings won three straight, but lost Cousins for the season.

Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell said Tuesday that Jerce Hall replaced Cousins and will play in the Vikings’ game against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.
Hall, who replaced Cousins, completed 3 of 4 passes for 23 yards.
However, Hall suffered a setback when he was fired.
After beating the Packers last Sunday, the Vikings needed a healthy quarterback, and Hall was the only one on the roster.
Nick Mullens is also injured, and the team has yet to recall Sean Mannion from the practice squad.
Cousins had a great start to the season before the injury, leading the NFL with 18 touchdowns and 2,331 passing yards.
Cousins threw just five touchdowns.
The deal also included a 2024 seventh-round pick from Arizona to Minnesota, and the Cardinals also had a 2024 sixth-round pick.
Meanwhile, Murray is recovering from ACL surgery.
He could return from the physically unable to play list on Nov.
8 before the Cardinals play the Falcons.
