CBS Sports analyst advice an NFL team to pursue Deion Sanders as next head coach
A CBS Sports analyst says the Raiders should look at Deion Sanders as their next head coach.
Top coaches will be in high demand.
He doesn’t want to play in the NFL.
The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to revive the franchise’s form after Mark Davis fired Josh McDaniels on a big night.
While many speculate where the search for a new coach will go, one CBS analyst believes there is one name they should target.
I’ll drop the name, are you ready?
Prime Time,” Pete Prisco said at CBS Sports headquarters.
\ “What about the Dion numbers?
Maybe the head coach of the NFL.
It’s not that complicated.
This is football.
Not quite, not exactly. Yes, lead people. Manage your employees.
Let the coach train and show you good performance in game situations.
“That’s a problem for a lot of coaches around the league.”
Sanders has repeatedly said he does not want to join the NFL.
Earlier this season, he said he enjoys coaching the players and is “impressed” learning the game of football.
I’m not even looking for money for Coach Prime.
Like many others, Prisco sees the “Prime Effect” as a monumental strength and believes he should step up to the NFL.
The only problem is that the logic is flawed.
Sanders is generating the level of buzz the sport needs, but that buzz will likely die down once he takes a major league coaching job. It would be fun to see Prime doing his thing in Vegas.
But his talents run deeper than trying to get the attention of a “made man” on Sunday.
The Raiders fired McDaniels after signing him for nearly $60 million.
That means Davis will take more paychecks over the next five years, unless he wants to cash his checkbook in a lump sum.
Former NFL linebacker Antonio Pierce will take over the interim job with the Raiders.
The SoCal native looks to make an impact for the Sliver and Black midway through the season.
“The short story and the truth is, I grew up in Compton, California.
“I was born an insider,” Pierce said at a press conference.
“I was born with the Raiders at the L.A. Coliseum, I was born with N.W.A. It’s pulled straight out of Compton’s Rocking Raider hat.
So when the opportunity came up to work with Josh (McDaniels), (defensive coordinator) Pat Graham and Dave (Ziegler), I jumped at it.
So I prepared this.
I was born this way.”
Pierce’s Raiders debut will come Sunday against his former team, the New York Giants, at Allegiant Stadium.
