leafs reacts to Brad Marchand who appeared to intentionally injure a Leafs defenseman; with no penalty call on the play
Brad Marchand appears to have injured a Leafs defenseman on purpose.
There were no penalties during the game.
In the last two games, the Toronto Maple Leafs had to play a defenseman (individual performance) after injuries to Jake McCabe and Timothy Liljegren, while the Buds had 5 defensemen.
Only 100 people had to attend.
There may be a third event in a week.
With less than a minute left in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins, Liljegren was involved in a puck contest with Bruins winger Brad Marchand.
Unfortunately, Marchand stuck his stick between Liljegren’s legs and took one of his legs out from under him, causing the young blueliner’s leg to hit the end plate.
Liljegren sat on the ice for a moment and tried to get up, but apparently struggled and was unable to do so.
What is the worst part? Despite the obvious penalty, the referee decided not to penalize Marchand during the game.
Who’s on the team tonight?
Liljegren slid down the ice under his own power, but needed the help of a trainer when he reached the bench to get through the tunnel.
Not good news for a Leafs team that has a fourth defenseman behind Jake McCabe.
It gets even worse when you consider that they now trust John Klingberg more than they want to.
