Keefe on the Leafs’ “I hated everything about it” reaction to Marchand
Head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sheldon Keefe, did not mince words when questioned about his team’s reaction to Brad Marchand taking out Timothy Liljegren tonight.
“Everything about it disgusted me. After the morning skate on Saturday, Keefe said, “We took care of that.”
Marchand executed a move known as the “can-opener” when he was skating alongside Liljegren in the corner in search of a loose puck during the first period. The Leafs’ defenseman was forced to leave the game after awkwardly colliding with the boards while falling feet-first. The Maple Leafs placed him on the long-term injured reserve on Saturday.
