Steelers WR George Pickens took to social media to say “Release me” after a recent disappointing performance.

Steelers WR George Pickens took to social media to say “Release me” after a recent disappointing performance.

George Pickens lets his frustration get the better of him.
The Pittsburgh Steelers second-year wide receiver posted “Release me” as he deleted the Steelers from his Instagram account after Thursday night’s 20-16 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Pickens’ social media actions came after he caught two passes for -1 yard on Thursday Night Football.
He has just three receptions in Pittsburgh’s last two games.
Despite his recent lack of production, Pickens is on pace to surpass 1,000 receiving yards for Pittsburgh, which improved to 5-3 on the season after beating Tennessee.
Pickens has three 100-yard games this season, including against the Ravens and Rams.
However, they are not happy with the poor performance in the last two games.
This isn’t the first time Pickens has made headlines for less than ideal reasons.
He made headlines last season when he was caught yelling “Throw the damn ball” at the television during a win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Pickens has drawn unwanted attention this season after committing several costly penalties.

Pickens’ news comes at a bad time, as the NFL trade deadline just passed.
But even if they don’t, it’s hard to imagine the Steelers trading Pickens, a young, talented player who has played prolifically since being drafted by Pittsburgh in 2022.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is expected to address Pickens’ social media activity during Tuesday’s weekly press conference.
Until then, fans and the media will continue to speculate about Pickens and his future in Pittsburgh.
