Adam Johnson’s aunt, whose nephew tragically passed away in an unusual incident on the ice, has urged the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) to mandate neck guards.
During a Challenge Cup match between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers, Johnson was involved in an on-ice collision that resulted in an ice skate killing him. After being taken to the hospital, the 29-year-old passed away from his injuries, having had his throat cut by a skate blade.
