Tyler Smith responds to Philadelphia’s “heartbreaking” lossThe Dallas Cowboys’ painful defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night was evident in the visiting team’s locker room as a late-game rally attempt that fell just short of the goal line was felt.
In the immediate wake of the game, offensive lineman Tyler Smith, a second-year player, found it difficult to accept the outcome, but he is eager for the rematch in five weeks back in Arlington.
Smith described it as “heartbreaking.” Not even a lie will do for me. Obviously not what we had hoped for. We seemed to be just on the verge of taking the necessary advantage to [win]. However, when it comes down to it, the little things, the specifics, are what matter most.
Smith helped provide protection up front for an offense that accounted for 406 total yards against a talented Philadelhia defense that has talent on all three levels.
“We showed today that we can contend with anybody,” he said. “We are part of that upper echelon. It’s just a matter of tightening up the small things. Seizing the moments that we gotta seize. We’ll be back and we’ll be better.”
“It’s a game of inches and they got the inch. We’ll see them again. I feel like things will be different.”
