Auston Matthews and William Nylander were undoubtedly two of the biggest stories this summer. Both players were given contract extensions on July 1st, and while Matthews took nearly 8 weeks to sign, Nylander is still in the final year of his current deal without an extension for next season.

With Matthews signing a new 4-year extension at $13.25 million per season as the all-around center and Marner making $10.9 million this season and beyond as the team’s top right wing, it would be surprising to see Nylander do both now. players, sign for less than $10.5 million.
