A Logical Case for Maple Leafs To Trade William Nylander

A Logical Case for Maple Leafs To Trade William Nylander

A trade for William Niners has been discussed for several seasons.
Many fans wanted to trade the young Swedish winger because they considered him soft and lazy.
He didn’t bother to keep the puck from freezing.
Or just float around playing a gentle game.

But today the story has changed.
Nylander set a franchise record for scoring at least one point in a season opener. He is probably the most important striker in the team.
However, some people think trading is a good idea.

A hockey analyst understands why a trade is the only answer.

In the video below, the hockey expert explains why he believes trading Neylander is the Maple Leafs’ only answer to their search for a balanced team.
You can listen to his speech here.

In the video, the hockey analyst explains the compelling reasons why he believes Neylander could be a key player as the team tries to rebuild its roster.
Whether you agree or not (and I don’t think Nylander should be traded), it’s worth considering.

What is the reason for the change?
Why is he trading Nylander?

In his opinion, Nylander is the only real trade option among a core group of four quality players. First, John Tavares is untradeable per his contract.
Second, the team made a long-term commitment to Auston Matthews.
Third, Mitch Marner recognized the value and potential overpayment.
(But I’m not sure if that makes logical sense. If I had to move one of the four, it would be Marner.)

Logical first: Nylander is highly valued in a potential move.

The first important point the speaker makes is that the front four dynamic of Tavares and Matthews can only shift the focus to Marner and Nylander.
Nylander’s desired salary of more than $10 million (which could increase thanks to his impressive start to the season) will be a key part of the decision-making process.

That amount is reasonable in today’s market and shows potential as a goaltender and 90+ point scorer, but poses a serious challenge to the team’s salary structure.
These problems can be solved by movement.

Second, Nylander’s trade value is already high.
It can bring you significant income. Trading him would give the Maple Leafs the type of asset they need to address certain areas of the roster.
Right now, with his 15-game hitting streak still alive, Nylander’s market value is believed to be at an all-time high.

The second logic: the need for a balanced team

Third, the analyst believes the team’s defensive needs are so important that action must be taken. His argument for trading Nylander included addressing the team’s defensive needs.
He is right.
Given the performance of the current quarterback, having a solid quarterback could improve the defensive capabilities of the lifters.
This makes sense, but it’s a short-term view of a long-term player development problem.
Fourth, the analyst believes the team’s goal should be to capitalize on Nylander’s trade value to build a balanced team. This includes acquiring additional scoring options, draft picks and strengthening the defensive lineup.
The most important thing in the Nylander trade

If the logic of the NHL is seen as a large-scale chessboard of NHL team dynamics, the logic of trading Nylander to the Maple Leafs lies in the strategic reorganization of the roster.
Nylander’s contributions are acknowledged, but the analyst’s thoughts stem from his desire to build a balanced team capable of competing at the highest level.
For him, the potential return of a Nylander trade could fill an immediate need and position the team for success in NHL competition.

The question is whether it makes sense or not.
As Nylander’s value to other teams increases, that means his value to his own team will increase as well. The team could use a stronger blue line, but would that require trading current and future stars? I will not do it; But analysts do.

Who is right?
