Cleveland browns sends scary second matchup massage to Steelers
Browns feel ready for second game against Steelers: ‘We really want this game’
When the Browns and Steelers play each other, last season’s stats, records and performance become irrelevant.
What matters is how a team plays in a game, not how it plays against other teams.
These games are often physical and unpredictable.
This Sunday, the two AFC North rivals will meet for the second time this season, where the winner could be at the top of the division.
At this point in the season, every game counts.
But this game is for bragging rights.
“I’m from Cleveland and I’ve played here for five years,” RB Kareem Hunt said.
“I know what this game is about.
“It’s the biggest rivalry in football, there’s no doubt about that.” No matter where the team is, it’s always a close game when they play the Steelers.
“I’m ready for this physical match and to win,” he said.
The Steelers defeated the Browns 26-22 in Week 2 of this season.
In this game, RB Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending injury.
In an emotional game without an offensive anchor, the Browns remained competitive. But a late turnover sealed the victory for the Steelers.
The Browns took a 22-19 lead into the fourth quarter with a touchdown. The Steelers offense had trouble moving the ball down the field and forced a three-and-out on the Browns defense in the second half. With 7:06 left in the game, QB Deshaun Watson was sacked by LB Alex Highsmith.
LB TJ Watt recovered a fumble and ran for 16 yards.
“They were there on the last play, but I felt like we gave it away,” DT Dalvin Tomlinson said.
“This game was a physical game. But we are given one more opportunity to rewrite our mistakes. I want to play on Sunday.”
The Browns will be at home and highly motivated as Sunday’s game approaches.
The team will be without Watson in Week 10 due to a season-ending shoulder injury. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson is shut down and everyone in the locker room thinks he can get the job done on Sunday.
“We still have the same hopes, goals and dreams,” Grant Delpit said.
“I know my heart goes out to Deshawn’s husband.
It took a hit this year and unfortunately the year is almost over. But I know it will still be in the ears of DTR and P.J. (Walker) is going to be there to get whoever needs to go where they need to go.”
Sunday’s game will feature two good defenses that have been each team’s strengths. Both defenses have players who stand out every week and make a big impact every game.
Garrett has 11 sacks and four forced fumbles this season.
Watt has 10.5 sacks, which included two forced fumbles.
Heading into the Week 2 game, Watt was statistically the best player on the field.
He had two tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery. Garrett had one hit in all games.
It will be a tough game on Sunday that will boost the Browns’ morale.
The players in the locker room are excited about the final game of the regular season against the Steelers.
“They smacked us in the face in Week 2,” Cedric Tillman said.
“We really want this game.
“I’m really excited about this game and I know everyone else is too.”
