Cowboys’ Micah Parsons addresses tackle-less performance against Giants

For the first time in his career, Parsons didn’t record a hit last week against the Giants.

Micah Parsons knows the task.
The Cowboy’s job is to rush the passer, disrupt the play and be a threat down the field.

Last week against the Giants, Parsons played inside as well as outside and defensive end.
He was part of the defensive package for the Giants game and could return next Sunday when the Cowboys visit the Carolina Panthers.

Parsons, who plays the three-point game, recorded five quarterback hurries but no tackles or sacks.
It wasn’t the first time in his career that Parsons threw a no-hitter.

For a player as productive as Parsons, it was surprising to have no tackles or sacks in an NFL game.

“I always say, ‘Next week,'” Parsons said.
“They say: today I am dead and tomorrow I will be gone.
I have a great opportunity.
I think it was one of three games where I didn’t have a sack.
I think there is production.
“I feel your presence.”

The Cowboys sacked Giants rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito five times and had seven quarterback hits in the game.
“I don’t think it had anything to do with the production because it got to the point where the QB read it one time and it came out of his pocket because he was afraid for his life,” Parsons said.
“I think we’re doing well.”

Getting Parsons off the ball gives the Cowboys defense another dynamic linebacker, with Damon Clark leading the team in tackles.
Additionally, Marquez Bell can maintain a natural posture without moving.

Clark and Bell are 1-2 when deciding teams.
The Cowboys also had inside linebacker Rashaan Evans extra-base hits (28) against the Giants.
Evans could be removed from the practice squad on the active roster this week due to the lack of standard. NFL teams can promote players from the practice squad to the active roster three times per season.
Players must then register with an active team.
Although Parsons is a pass-oriented player, his movement off the ball is just as important.

“It went really fast,” Parsons said of the game against the Giants.
“When you play more without the ball and you have a lot of 3-pointers and you go from the D-line to the ball and from the D-line to the ball, sometimes you don’t get a lot of shots because if you’re tied late in the third quarter, you don’t really you have to lose.
