NFL hands down fines from Browns-Ravens game

A cheap hit that released Cleveland CB Denzel Ward pocketed Baltimore’s Ronnie Stanley.

The Cleveland Browns won against the Baltimore Ravens last week.
The Ravens fined the Browns, three players and a Browns staffer on Saturday.

Topping the list is Baltimore left fielder Ronnie Stanley, who was fined $21,855 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland cornerback Denzel Ward that left Ward out with a neck injury and a concussion.
When asked about it Thursday, Ward called it a cheap shot, but referred to it as part of the play (via the transcript provided by the team).

“Yeah, I thought it was a cheap shot.
I have it.
I thought it was an unnecessary goal and maybe a penalty kick, but that’s football, things happen, so it’s okay. I don’t wish anything bad to happen to anyone.
But yes, he did.
So everything is fine.”

The NFL also featured Cleveland wide receiver Cedric Tillman with a clean offensive tackle on Baltimore quarterback Kyle Van Noy.
However, the league office thought otherwise and fined Tillman $5,667 for unnecessary roughness.
In addition to embarrassing a player 35 pounds lighter than him on national television, Van Noy was fined $8,889 for headbutting Tillman after coming off the field.

Baltimore eventually secured wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He was fined $10,927 for unsportsmanlike conduct, in NFL parlance, on a touchdown reception in the third quarter.
