It seems like the hype train for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes has been rolling for a long time.
Colorado and āCoach Primeā were the favorites in college football after starting 3-0, but heading into Friday nightās game against Washington State, the team had lost six of seven games. And the buffaloes were again humiliated. This time it was when they received a 56-14 performance from the Cougars.
The five-game losing streak leaves Colorado at 4-7 on the year, meaning Sanders is now ineligible for the tournament in his first season. āThis is probably the hardest part of my life,ā a disappointed āCoach Primeā told reporters.
āWe are not like that. Weāre still trying to figure out who we are. Itās been weeks and I still donāt know.
It was also a rough night for Sanders quarterbackās son, Sheder, who had to leave the game early. Before that, he was on the receiving end of a sack that led to a Pumas touchdown, which led to the Pumas stealing his signature end zone celebration.
Midway through the first quarter, he was caught on a punt at Washingtonās 49-yard line after falling behind 7-0. Ron Stone wasnāt fooled by Sanders Jr.ās fake pass and hit him from behind before throwing the ball.
It was released and quickly recovered by Brennan Jackson, who brought it home. Jackson taunted Sanders and then mimicked the quarterbackās āclockā celebration.
To make matters worse, Sanders took a big hit at a bad time and left the game in the second quarter. Sanders stood up slowly. However, he left the stadium alone before being escorted to the dressing room.
Jr. went 6-of-10 for 86 yards, including a 45-yard strike to Travis Hunter. He was sacked four times before leaving the game.
āHe had no feeling in his hands and couldnāt catch the ball,ā Sanders said. āBut when he scored the second goal, we decided not to send him back.ā
