Sheldon Keefe publicly blast the leafs
Sheldon Keefe was furious with the Leafs after their loss to the Blackhawks.
Yesterday’s game against Chicago saw the Leafs revive their old habit of undermining the competition, taking a two-goal lead against the lowly Blackhawks.
Old habits from previous seasons also came up, including taking minors. The Leafs went on top in the league yesterday with a decisive penalty kill, their seventh bench minor of the year. These are not stats a team wants to lead with. Sheldon Keefe was not happy. Keefe may have been responsible for too many man-of-the-match penalties, but the tone of his comments and the fact that his temper seemed to be on the wane might have placed more blame on the players for this recurring problem.
This year’s penalty kill will take a step back from last year’s success, and the Leafs will have to do their best to maintain discipline and get out of the box. This starts with the basics, including keeping underage banking to a minimum.
