Browns provides injury update on QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson Exits After Being Bloodied by Dirty Hit

Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson leaves bleeding after a nasty hit.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson left Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos after taking a hard hit late in the third quarter.

Broncos linebacker Baron Browning hit Thompson-Robinson under the chin while attempting a third down play. Thompson-Robinson still had some time left before running down the sideline. Blood was seen from the mouth of the newly arrived KB. Thompson-Robinson filled in for Deshaun Watson before the injury. He was 14 of 29 for 134 yards and a touchdown. After Thompson-Robinson left, PJ Walker came to the Browns.

The Browns are 2-1 with Walker this season, but his turnovers hurt Cleveland in that game. He had five interceptions and one tackle for loss.

After the goal, Thompson-Robinson went to the locker room and was sent off with a concussion. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski requested his participation.

Shortly after Thompson-Robinson left, the Browns moved on running back Pierre Strong Jr. The punt sent Denver deep into Cleveland territory. The Broncos capitalized on the touchdown and scored to extend their lead to 24-12. The Browns made some questionable calls throughout the game and fans online were not happy with Kevin Stefanski.

“Not true. You’re kidding? Are we participating? Flip?” tweeted Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Sports Show in Cleveland. “Did you come back after the rookie QB hit you?” This is why people demand Stefanski’s work, and rightly so! This is the stupid stuff we do in high school that we ignore every week!

FOX commentator Mark Sanchez also spoke with Stefanski on the air, challenging the Browns quarterback on the play. Sanchez said several times, “What are we doing here?”

The Browns declined to promote veteran quarterback Joe Flacco this week after signing Thompson-Robinson and Walker on Monday.

Cleveland announced Watson’s season-ending injury on November 15 and began evaluating options for a third quarterback. Flacco stopped by practice and signed shortly after.

Despite his limited criminal experience, Flacco would be a better option than Walker. Flacco appeared in 183 games and made 180 starts for the Ravens (2008-18), Broncos (2019) and New York Jets (2020-22). Flacco has completed 3,881 of his 6,299 career passes (61.6%) with 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions. As a starting pitcher, he compiled a record of 99 wins and 81 losses (.550).

He won the Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2013 and was named the MVP of that game. “I still have confidence that I can play,” Flacco said on Nov. 23. “I focus on everyday life. “As long as I can, I think I’ll do my best no matter what the situation is, what my role is or what comes my way.”

The Browns have said Thompson-Robinson will remain the starter for now and that Flacco plans to step into a veteran leadership role. But Thompson-Robinson’s injury could change those plans.
