Browns injury report: Myles Garrett, Amari Cooper, Jordan Elliott ‘day-to-day’
In Week 12, the Cleveland Browns suffered injuries.
The team lost quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to a concussion, linebacker Myles Garrett to a shoulder injury, wide receiver Amari Cooper to a rib injury and defensive tackle Jordan Elliott to an ankle injury. All four were starters last week, meaning their absence was felt in the Browns’ 29-12 loss to the Denver Broncos. For a team in playoff contention, missed time from these players could not bode well for Cleveland’s postseason aspirations. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski provided some updates on all four the day after Week 12. Here’s how Cleveland looks in Week 13: Miles Garrett
Garrett said he “felt something in my shoulder” after the game, but Stefanski’s MRI showed no structural damage to the Pro Bowl defensive end. Stefanski added that Garrett is “tough” and “routine” but said he feels good about his quarterback’s ability to play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13. This is big news for the Browns. Garrett is a candidate for NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and his 13 sacks this season are second in the NFL behind T.J. Watts per half pack. Getting him involved in a big game next week would be a huge win for Cleveland.
WR Amari Cooper
An X-ray on Cooper’s ribs came back negative, meaning he will likely be ready to play in Week 13, Stefanski said. Although he’s caught just six passes for 50 yards since Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury, Cooper is still a big part of this offense and demands the attention of any opposing defense. If he can’t play, the Browns will have Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, David Bell and the already injured Marquis Goodwin to thank. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson
Thompson-Robinson was placed in the concussion protocol this week after a controversial hit last week. Its availability depends entirely on its ability to execute and complete the protocol. If DTR can’t play, the Browns will have P.J. Walker or veteran Joe Flacco will start in Week 13.
Jordan Elliott
Like Garrett and Cooper, Elliott is considered an everyday option because of the wrist injury he suffered in Week 12. The four-year veteran is having a solid season in Cleveland, recording 14 tackles and three tackles for a loss along with a career-high 2.5 sacks.
