Deion Sanders Pleaded With Retired All-Pro Tackle for Help With Colorado’s Offensive Line Woes

Colorado coach Deion Sanders was in attendance at AT&T Stadium Thursday night to watch the Cowboys take on the Seahawks.

Before kickoff, Coach Prime visited Amazon’s Thursday night pregame office today and spoke with former NFL stars Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, Richard Sherman and host Charissa Thompson. Always in recruiting mode, Sanders jokingly asked pros to come out of retirement and join his program in Boulder.

Coach Prime took a special interest in Whitworth, who played in four Pro Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro during his 16-year NFL career with the Rams and Bengals. He joked that the 41-year-old wanted to “screw up” the Buffaloes’ offense.

“I’m recruiting right now and I need one of you, two, five and then more of you,” Sanders joked to former NFL players. Before kickoff in Dallas, Sanders, who was in attendance with his son and Colorado star quarterback Cedar, was seen hugging Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and chatting briefly with the 81-year-old.

The Buffaloes finished the 2023 season on a negative note, losing eight of their last nine games. With the move to the Big 12 looming on the horizon, Sanders will likely look to bring in a former NFL All-Pro talent in Whitworth to bolster Colorado’s roster.
