DONE DEAL: Philadelphia Eagles add another former Alabama player
The Philadelphia Eagles have more Alabama alumni than any other NFL team, and they added one more Thursday.
The NFL team announced that wide receiver Cam Sims has joined the practice squad in Philadelphia. Sims has been out of the league since Oct. 10, when the New York Giants released him from their practice squad. In his fifth season with the Washington Commanders in 2022, Sims had eight receptions for 89 yards against 328 offensive tackles and 244 on special teams in 17 games.
Sims signed as a free agent with the Las Vegas Raiders in March, but Las Vegas released him in August when they reduced their preseason roster to the regular season limit of 53 players. 29.
Sims joined the Giants in September. 4.
Sims joins offensive lineman Ross Pirschbacher as the second Alabama graduate on Philadelphia’s practice squad. Former Alabama players on the Eagles’ active roster include:

· Wide receiver Julio Jones

Philadelphia signed Sims after selecting wide receiver Greg Ward from the practice squad. Ward has been with the Eagles since 2017 and has 88 receptions for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns in 40 regular season games, all coming in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. After catching 41 passes for 467 yards and two touchdowns in four seasons at Alabama, Sims entered Washington’s 2018 regular-season roster as an undrafted rookie. However, Sims suffered a season-ending injury in his first start of the first game. Sims returned to Washington for the next four seasons, catching 57 passes for 804 yards and three touchdowns in 54 games.
