Red Sox Have ‘Pretty Good Chance’ Of Landing Star Pitcher In Game-Changing Move
The Boston Red Sox need to improve their starting rotation and want to land the best free agent pitcher on the market.
Boston has work to do. The Red Sox have won just 78 games in each of the past two seasons, but there are clear reasons for hope in the franchise. Boston made positive strides last year and has one of the best farm systems in baseball. If Red Soccus is done in June, it can be clear that it can be played next year if it is done in June. I’m not too much in the fight. Orix buffaloes ace yoshinobu yamamoto is the most popular free agent. He is only 25 years old and will sign a huge contract this season. While Boston has emerged as a likely suitor, the New York Yankees and Mets are widely considered as potential teams to sign him. In that case, MassLive.com’s Sean McAdam joined the Play Tessie podcast and said he thinks the Red Sox have a solid shot at landing Yamamoto. “I think they have a very good chance of getting him,” McAdam said. “If you look at the infrastructure and what they can offer, what you see in their history of attracting a lot of Japanese players financially, a lot of them are pitchers and a lot of them are successful. The fact that (Daisuke Matsuzaka) was willing to pitch for the Red Sox and become an ambassador speaks volumes… There is nothing negative that stands out to me.”
Yamamoto is a player Boston desperately needs. The Red Sox need a top arm, and Yamamoto could be that for years to come. Plus, if Chris Suttle returns to form and Brian Bello can take another step forward, Boston’s rotation could be very solid with Yamamoto in the mix.
Boston will undoubtedly have stiff competition, but it looks like it could land the young star this season.
