BREAKING NEWS: Steelers make surprising move ahead of Bengals Gam.
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a surprise move for their Week 12 matchup with the Bengals.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have six players inactive, including a rookie, entering their Week 12 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers announced that quarterback Mason Rudolph, safety Minka Fitzpatrick (groin), defensive end Montravius Adams (plate), offensive lineman Dylan Cook, running back Anthony McFarland and linebacker Blake Martinez will not dress against Cincinnati .
McFarland is a surprising move for the Steelers. After returning from injured reserve, the running back resumed his role as the team’s returner. However, Pittsburgh decided to sit him out in Week 12 and give Godwin Igwebuik a helmet for the game. He is expected to handle the kick return duties in place of McFarland.
Fitzpatrick will miss his fourth game with a hamstring injury. Coach Mike Tomlin noted that the All-Pro safety was “fighting” to get back on the field, but was unable to practice all week.
Adams will miss his third straight game with an ankle injury, but the Steelers did get some positive news on the defensive end. Despite being ruled out, Adams was limited in practice this week, marking his first return from injury.
Rudolph will be dressed as the team’s third quarterback, but won’t be able to play if Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky are unable to play. Martinez signed with the Carolina Panthers practice squad this week. After a few days of practice, the veteran linebacker will have to wait at least a week before making his debut with the Steelers. Instead, Pittsburgh signed Tariq Carpenter off the practice squad. Carpenter played in the final two games and contributed on special teams.
