Steelers Named Landing Spot for Cleveland Defender

The Steelers have designated landing spots for opposing quarterbacks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to add an offensive linebacker.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had their fair share of injuries at the inside linebacker position this season, and it’s unclear at this point what the future will look like next season. Elandon Roberts feels like a name the Steelers would like to keep, but the injured Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander could be question marks. And newly signed Michal Walker is too new to know what Pittsburgh thinks of him long-term. To solve that problem, Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus believes another solid name could be found in free agency in the AFC North.

With each team designating a free agent after Week 12, Spielberger believes Cleveland Browns quarterback Anthony Walker is the right fit for the Steelers. Given the severity of his injuries in 2023, Walker finished with a guaranteed rating above 60.0 for the third time since his 2021 season. Walker would be fine with Elandon Roberts. If it’s Roberts. Spielberger wrote: This season, Walker, 28, has 36 tackles and three pass deflections, but has just a 60 percent completion percentage. His field goal percentage last season was 37.5%.

If Roberts is the only player other than Mark Robinson, the Steelers will need coverage at inside linebacker. And if Walker becomes a household name, he could become an open-market player in Pittsburgh.
