Mike Tomlin called the Steelers to play and JV Football lost to the cardinals The Steelers played just as well in the weather on Sunday when they laid eggs in a 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
The race was postponed twice due to heavy rain and thunder. However, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin made no excuses after the Week 13 game.
Speaking to reporters, Tomlin called his team playing “JV football” against Arizona. Winning author Alan Saunders at X, formerly known as Twitter. Tomlin said it was a “terrible day at the office,” adding that it was his responsibility to take the loss for the Cardinals.
It certainly didn’t help Pittsburgh that starting quarterback Kenny Pickett had to leave the game with an ankle injury, forcing backup Mitchell Trubisky into action. The Steelers had just one turnover in the game. But it was costly as Trubisky’s fumble set up an easy touchdown drive for the Cardinals in the third quarter.
Pittsburgh may not have had many physical fouls on the field, but there were plenty of mental fouls with nine penalties that cost 77 yards. Those moments made Tomlin think he was watching the JV football team.
With the Colts and Texans tied for the AFC standings and the Broncos and Bills breathing down their necks to make the playoffs, Pittsburgh would do well to close soon.
