Why Browns’ biggest question is no longer QB
Why Brown’s Biggest Question Isn’t QB anymore The Browns started as the fourth quarterback of the season against the Rams in Week 13 after QB Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending injury in Week 10.
Here are three reasons why quarterbacks aren’t This isn’t the biggest question for teams.
Smash Defense For most of the year, Cleveland’s defense beat opponents by allowing the fewest yards per game (260.
5) in the league.
But that wasn’t the case on Sunday.
The Rams’ offense dominated the day with 399 total yards and zero turnovers.
The Browns’ loss is further proof that the defense is far from sound.
DE Myles Garrett, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury, entered his first career game without a single tackle, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Two-time Pro Bowl CB Denzel Ward also missed the game with a shoulder injury, which certainly affected the outcome of the game.
Joe Flacco Flacco, who just signed with Cleveland late last month, agreed to start alongside QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is still in concussion protocol.
Expectations weren’t too high for the 38-year-old, but he proved he still had energy left in him, going 23-of-44 for 254 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
Other than the interception, Flacco seemed confident and made smart decisions for most of the afternoon that as long as the defense played the way it has played all season, it would be enough to win.
The team could go back to Thompson-Robinson, who has just 429 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in five games, if he is cleared.
But Flacco did enough to earn him another extended job as the Browns maintain their postseason aspirations.
Two-Headed Monster Watson wasn’t the only big hole left by season-ending injuries for Cleveland.
Four-time Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb suffered a serious knee injury in Week 2.
However, running backs Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt have made good progress in his absence.
The two backs combined for 1,236 yards and 12 touchdowns this season.
Many thought the losses of Watson and Chubb were too much to bear, but the Browns offense appears to have found a winning formula.
It’s time for the defense to get back to its dominant ways.
But it starts with getting healthy, which isn’t easy this time of year.
