Astros GM release official statement regarding Alex Bregman trade interests
Astros GM says group cares very little about exchanging Alex Bregman
Houston Astros head supervisor Dana Earthy colored says the group isn’t investigating exchanges for Alex Bregman, despite the fact that the Everything Star third baseman’s agreement is set to terminate after the 2024 season.
“Alex Bregman has had a wonderful career here. At the baseball winter meetings in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday, Brown told reporters, “We’re not interested in trading him.” I think Alex knows that and grasps that in view of our discussions.”
Brown tended to Bregman’s status in the midst of hypothesis the Astros were hoping to move him before he arrives at free organization.
Brown stated, “I’m not at all concerned about the articles and rumors, and I’m not sure where they’re coming from.” Alex, on the other hand, is a cornerstone in this situation. You can’t supplant that sort of protection and that kind of bat. So where not inspired by (an exchange). We’re attempting to win here.”
Brown added that no recent negotiations regarding a potential extension with Bregman have taken place. Last year, he batted.262 with 25 home runs, 28 doubles, and 98 RBIs, helping the Astros reach the AL Championship Series for the seventh year in a row before losing to the Texas Rangers in seven games.
Bregman will make $28.5 million this season in the last year of a $100 million, five-year contract he endorsed in 2019. In eight seasons with the Astros, the 29-year-old has a.274 batting average, 165 home runs, and 588 RBIs.
He was named a Silver Slugger in 2019 and has been named an All-Star twice.
He isn’t the main star Astro whose agreement is finishing soon. Brown stated that he hasn’t had any recent contract talks with outfielders Kyle Tucker and Jose Altuve, who will both be free agents following the 2025 season.
Brown stated that “we haven’t had any talks,” but that he was certain they would “circle back” with agents for the three players.
