“Unhappy” FIA sporting director quits job leaving F1 drivers “dismayed”
The F1 drivers are left “dismayed” when the FIA sporting director quits. He only started in the position in January 2023 and was tasked with improving race control.
Yet, he has stopped after under a year due to being “troubled”, as per the BBC.
According to the report, “The FIA was not willing” to implement the Nielsen-recommended changes to enhance its race control procedure.
Nielsen had recently functioned as wearing chief for the Tyrell, Benetton, Renault and Williams F1 groups. He then worked for Equation 1 after its takeover by Freedom Media.
Drivers and teams in Formula One were supportive of Nielsen’s appointment earlier this year, and they will be “dismayed” and “concerned” by his sudden departure.
The FIA has likewise seen Deborah Mayer left her place of employment as top of the commission for ladies this month.
The takeoffs are the most recent troubles for the overseeing body drove by Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
He pursued contention this month by sending off an examination concerning Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff which was subsequently dropped.
