Maple Leafs Dip Toes in Goaltending Market, But Sellers Asking a Lot

Add the Toronto Maple Leafs to a rundown of a small bunch of groups that are searching for NHL goaltending help. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman claims that the Leafs are aware that they require assistance, and GM Brad Treliving is beginning his search for it. The goaltending market has choices. The stunt is, will the cost be excessively restrictive to take action?

In the Saturday Headlines report, Friedman said that even teams with enough goaltenders are having trouble. The costs are high and that could drive Toronto into settling on a choice it’s not no doubt OK with.

Friedman made sense of:

“I really do accept that Toronto has plunged its toes into the goaltending market I anticipate that nothing should happen right when the freeze closes I think their expectation is that [Ilya] Samsonov simply moves a couple of days away and they keep on working with him.”

He adds:

They obviously do not have Joseph Woll at the moment because he is injured. Also, I don’t think the think bringing their American Hockey Association goaltender Dennis Hildeby up is the legitimate thing to do the present moment, despite the fact that he’s truly capable and looks great.”

Maple Leafs Need Goaltending, Yet are Being Blackmailed

“The other thing I’m hearing right currently is that the groups that have the goaltending excess, they now it, and what they’re requesting is a ton, particularly assuming that maintenance is involved and I simply think this large number of groups over here that are searching for goaltenders observe that they’re being blackmailed a smidgen.”

Among the teams with additional netminders, the Detroit Red Wings, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Montreal Canadiens are likely willing to make a deal.
