Max Verstappen F1 retirement plan doubts grow – with Lewis Hamilton playing key role
Max Verstappen will not resign from Recipe 1 – on the grounds that he’s peering toward breaking Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher’s reality title record.
That is the assessment of previous driver Johnny Herbert, who doesn’t figure Verstappen will bow out right on time regardless of the Dutchman guaranteeing that he won’t emulate Hamilton’s example and race into his late 30s. Verstappen, 26, asserted his third world title in the wake of overwhelming the 2023 season, winning 19 out of 22 races.
This means that Verstappen has won three titles in a row, four more than Hamilton and Schumacher, who both won seven titles in their careers. Furthermore, Herbert believes that Verstappen will not quit anytime soon because he is a winning machine.
“I don’t believe he will bow out ahead of schedule,” Herbert said. ” That is simply him growing up and developing and him valuing there is life outside the F1 bubble. I think his entire disposition and mindset is tied in with winning. He might race Le Mans with his father. However, his principal center is and will be F1 yet he understands he can appreciate life another way and it’s not about that one air pocket. He might be thinking more and more about his family.”
Hamilton finished third for Mercedes this season, and despite the fact that he will turn 39 in January, he has no immediate plans to retire from racing. He has seven world titles to his name – equivalent to Schumacher – and Verstappen will need to break those two records, as per Herbert.
“Senna generally completed a season and returned to Brazil for an entire reset to stretch out his inspiration back beyond testing,” Herbert added.
“Lewis isn’t different. Max is well aware that he has the potential to surpass the two drivers who have won seven world titles. That is what drives him.
“At the point when you’re on top of the platform and the champagne is streaming there could be no other inclination like it. The inspiration is to come out on top for however many titles as he can. The objective is eight and that will be all that anyone could need.
“The thing with all incredible heroes, for example, Michael, Ayrton, Lewis and Max, it is tied in with bettering yourself constantly. That drives them most and sets them apart because it comes from within.
“They all hope to face apparent shortcomings, work on them and transform them in a manner into a strength. Then continue on toward the following negative to figure out.”
