Luke Littler hits up greasy spoon with girlfriend and family ahead of World Darts final
Luke Littler headed to a cafe to have his regular – a cheese and ham omelette – alongside his family and girlfriend before featuring in the World Darts Championship final on Wednesday night
Luke Littler hit up a greasy spoon cafe as he prepares to make history in the World Darts Championship final.
The teenage sensation, 16, is the youngest ever player to reach the showpiece event, having seen off Rob Cross in the semi-final on Tuesday night. He’ll take on Luke Humphries on Wednesday as he eyes an historic title on his Alexandra Palace debut.
Littler has had a strong support team throughout the tournament in north London, with his performances gaining him more attention. His family and his girlfriend were also seen coming out of Cafe Milennium in the morning before the final.
The joint serves the usual breakfast dishes as well as ham and cheese omelettes, which will have cost Littler £8.40. The youngster has had the meal every morning and claimed he would stick to it after his semi-final win Speaking after that win, he said: “I’ll do what I’ve been doing. In the morning, go for a ham and cheese omelette, then come here have a pizza and then practice! That’s what I’ve done every day.”
Littler has been visiting the same cafe while in the capital with one of their employees saying: “Yeah we know him, he is a nice guy. He’s been in often. I know he’s famous but he’s nice.”
Littler admits his plan when he headed to the tournament, off the back of a stellar youth career, was to win a solitary match – he’s now won six. Despite many backing him to get the job done the 16-year-old sees his final appearance as a “free hit”.
He said: “It’s just unbelievable. Unbelievable to even think I’m in the final. I wanted to just win a game and come back after Christmas and I’m still standing. In this World Championship I’ve got nothing to lose. It’s just a free hit for myself. There’s no pressure. It’s my first time being here and I’m still here, so I just take it in my stride and take it game by game.”
Humphries will stand between Littler and more history and the pre-tournament favourite knows that he’ll have to produce a career best performance to see off the teenage sensation.
He declared, “Nothing is going to faze him.” “He won’t be phased at all tomorrow if he plays like he did today, so I’ll probably have to play the game of my life. I am aware of the work at hand and what is in front of me. Tomorrow, I have to play at my best, but I also aim to force him to play at his best so that we can perhaps offer the spectators one of the greatest world finals they have ever witnessed.”
A picture of Humphries and a youthful Littler that has gone viral shows the two of them getting together back in 2019. Despite being 12 years Littler’s senior, Humphries acknowledges that his skill was obvious during their four-year engagement.
He said: “The first time I played with him I think he was 12 and he was scarily good then. It was in a local competition and he missed a 164 to go ahead. I think I took out 64 and 3, see that says a lot that I remember what happened.”
“I remember knowing that when you’re a 12-year-old playing that well, there is some talent there. A lot of people have come and gone, but he’s showed that he’s the real deal, and regardless of what happens tomorrow he’s got a massive, massive bright future.”
In order to go to the PDC World Darts Championship final, Luke Littler won over the hearts of the British people. He will now aim to challenge world champion Luke Humphries all the way. You can watch every moment of what promises to be a momentous evening at Alexandra Palace live on Sky Sports.
