Red Sox Reportedly Considering Blockbuster Trade For Superstar Pitcher
Boston needs to add a starting pitcher and reportedly is considering a blockbuster deal
It sounds like the Boston Red Sox could have another trade up their sleeve this offseason.
Boston already has been busy in the trade market and dealt away outfielder Alex Verdugo and pitcher Chris Sale. The Red Sox sound like they are a long way from finished and need to add another frontline hurler this offseason.
It’s unclear exactly what they will do, but Boston reportedly is showing interest in a blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox for Dylan Cease, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
“The White Sox are weighing offers for Cease, and the (New York Yankees) and (Baltimore Orioles) are among those to express ‘sincere’ interest, according to major-league sources briefed on the discussions,” Rosenthal stated. But there are other teams that are real. The Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Dodgers are a few of the teams that may be involved, though the precise list of suitors is unknown.
“The Red Sox, like the Dodgers, possess a top-five system and are seeking a top-of-the-rotation starter.”
The Red Sox would be extremely lucky to get Cease. With Boston’s robust farm system, the team could probably close a deal if it so desired. All that matters is if the Red Sox are prepared to trade with Kyle Teel, Marcelo Mayer, or Roman Anthony.
The great, 28, is signed for the upcoming two seasons and would provide the Red Sox with the much-needed top-of-the-rotation ace right away. Boston is obviously vying for the young pitcher, but it appears that the team is at least considering a move.
