Raptors Coach Darko Rajaković Goes Scorched Earth On Refs Over Lopsided Foul Calls In Loss To Lakers
Darko Rajaković, the head coach of the Raptors, will undoubtedly be fined for his remarks against the refereeing after his team’s Tuesday defeat to the Lakers. However, he received more than his money back for his extremely passionate outburst following the game.
The Toronto Raptors entered their game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a 15-21 record, demonstrating that they haven’t exactly developed into a formidable force since they brought in Rajaković to take Nick Nurse’s position before the current campaign began.
The Raptors gave the Lakers a push for their money in a back-and-forth game before falling short in the end. The Lakers entered the game as 5-point favorites on their home court.
The Lakers had 36 free throw attempts in the game compared to the Raptors’ 13 (with 23 of the former’s attempts coming in the fourth quarter, when Toronto was only given two opportunities overall). It was difficult to overlook this difference in opportunities.
While it’s true that there are occasions when one side just commits more fouls than the other, Rajaković made it quite plain on Tuesday when he ripped against the officials and addressed the media following the game.
Here’s some of what he had to say:
“What transpired tonight is really ridiculous. The league and the referees should be ashamed for allowing this. They get twenty-three free throws, and we get two in the fourth quarter.
How is it achievable? In this league, Scottie Barnes, an All-Star player, attacks the rim with intensity each and every time. For the whole game, he is awarded two free throws. How could that be true? In what way will you convey that to me?
Tonight, they had to prevail, right? Please inform us if that is the case so that we can avoid attending the game. Simply grant them victory. Tonight, it was unfair.
