Dez Bryant reveals Cowboys’ next head coach.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had a press conference on who the team’s next head coach is.
Bryant responded to the post on his page. Bryant’s response suggested that Tomlin’s next destination could be his former franchise.
Tomlin remains the Steelers’ head coach and is under contract through the 2024 season. Additionally, the Cowboys currently do not have a coaching vacancy as Mike McCarthy is also under contract through 2024.
But both situations may change this year. McCarthy’s job security comes after the Cowboys suffered a shock loss to the Green Bay Packers. Tomlin’s future is also in jeopardy as rumors swirl that he could leave a year early. McCarthy is widely rumored to replace former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, but Tomlin would also have plenty of experience.
Tomlin compiled a 173-100-2 record in 17 seasons with the Steelers, helping the team to 11 postseason appearances, two Super Bowl appearances and a Lombardi Trophy in Pittsburgh. He also did not miss a game during his time with the franchise.
He’s currently the longest tenured head coach in the NFL since Belichick left, but he may be ready for a new challenge. Dallas is going to have a great season. The team had three straight 12-5 seasons, but only won one playoff game during that stretch.
A few dominoes will have to fall for Bryant’s prophecy to come true. But Tomlin could surprise Dallas and return it to its former glory.
