Vikings sign 6’2″ cornerback to reserve/futures contract
The Vikings have signed former Browns CB A.J. Green III to a futures deal.
The Vikings have signed former Browns cornerback A.J. Green III to a reserve/futures contract, they announced on Tuesday.
Green, 25, signed with Cleveland in 2020 as an undrafted free agent after leaving Oklahoma State. He played there for the last four seasons. He skipped between the dynamic program and the training crew, showing up (with two beginnings) during his Browns residency. Over the course of the past four seasons, Green was involved in just over 300 defensive snaps and nearly 500 special teams snaps.
Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah knows all about Green from his experience as the Browns’ VP of football activities (2020-21).
Green was a key special teams player and backup corner for the Browns in 2021 and 22 despite not playing much in 2020 or ’23. 29 of his appearances and the two beginnings came during those two seasons, where he had two capture attempts, seven passes shielded, and two mishandle recuperations in to some degree restricted activity. It’s a little example size, yet he procured a 90.3 PFF inclusion grade on 116 snaps in 2021 (and afterward a harsh 41.8 inclusion grade the next year).
Green has extraordinary size at 6’2″, 200 pounds, yet scored inadequately in the athletic tests at the 2020 join, which added to him going undrafted
Green ought to be able to vie for a spot on the Vikings’ list or practice crew in 2024. His length and exceptional groups experience are resources helping him out.
