It apparently cost Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s wedding guests thousands of dollars just to book their hotel stay.
Some celebrities might allow certain members of the press in, or leak photos of their weddings, giving their fans a glimpse into their celebration. A few celebrities have invited the public in, getting married on TV! Others will go to extreme lengths to keep their wedding ceremonies private.
When Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren were married in Barbados, it was an extravagant affair with celebrity guests. The golf pro rented out an entire resort for his wedding guests.
Woods wouldn’t even confirm if the wedding was happening to inquiring members of the press. When asked about it, Woods commented, “I think you guys would be the last I’d ever tell.”
The golf icon and Nordegren didn’t want any uninvited guests showing up and taking pictures. Woods took some extra steps to keep their special day private. According to Essentially Sports, Woods spent an exorbitant amount of money just to maintain privacy at his wedding.
“The helicopter charter firm on the island claimed that it was fully booked, so it appeared Woods took this precaution, to prevent reporters and photographers from flying over the event. Additionally, he rented out the entire hotel, which reportedly includes around 200 rooms.”
“The ultimate objective of Tiger Woods was to maintain the privacy of the ceremony.” Woods was successful with his privacy precautions. “No picture from the wedding was leaked and the ceremony was completed with utmost privacy.”
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Elin Nordegren’s father, Thomas, told the Associated Press why privacy played an important role in his daughter’s wedding to Tiger Woods. “Elin and Tiger want to keep this as a family thing. I’m sorry I can’t give you any more information.”
