Phil Mickelson boasts about barely-believable record Tiger Woods can’t even match

Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods have gone toe-to-toe on a number of occasions throughout their careers, but one column Mickelson is clear in is his hole-in-one tally

Phil Mickelson has revealed he has made a remarkable 47 hole-in-ones during his lifetime, double the amount his great rival Tiger Woods has notched up.

Mickelson and Woods have had the greatest battle in golf in their lifetime, but it seems clear that they are left-handed when it comes to hitting aces. The pair went their separate ways in recent years after Mickelson decided to join LIV Golf. Ahead of this week’s event in Las Vegas, HyFlyers captain Phil Mickelson participated in a question-and-answer session included in the tour’s media guide.

During the Q&A, the six-time champion was asked how many times he had been punched from his box and said the number was an incredible 47 times. To put that into context, Woods’ greatest golfer was 20 years into his life.

Of course, there are a total of 47 non-competitors, and that includes golf and frequent practice. Still, Mickelson’s numbers are impressive, especially compared to other great players. The HyFlyers skipper has yet to top the LIV circuit, but has five PGA Tour wins. Two of them participated in golf’s most decorated event. Mickelson, 25, won the 1995 Players Championship before hitting the big stage six years later at the 2001 US Open at South Hills. The remaining three tournaments came at the Kemper Open in 1994, the Houston Open in 1995 and most recently the 84 LUMBER Classic in 2005. The 53-year-old will be hoping for a similar run in Las Vegas after a memorable start to the season in this week. Weekend in Mexico. Mickelson began his campaign as runner-up at LIV Mayakoba and finished the week at 11, just behind 4Aces star Harold Varner III. It was a tough week for his HyFlyers, who finished the week in 10th place after picking up two more overall points during the week. Despite his storied history, the 45-time PGA Tour winner has yet to cross the border into a series sponsored by Saudi Arabia. His best finish came in his first season at the LIV in 2022, when Mickelson tied for 8th in Chicago, seven shots behind champion Cameron Smith.
