ESPN has Georgia No. 1 in “Way-Too-Early” Rankings
Georgia has gone a miraculous 42-2 over the past two seasons and just inked the No. 1 class. ESPN has the Bulldogs right back on top heading into 2024.
Georgia came just three points shy of another SEC Championship and berth into the College Football Playoff. Instead, the 12-1 Bulldogs had to settle for an Orange Bowl blowout of a gutted Florida State team.
Still, the pain and frustration of coming so close to a chance at a three-peat has been the catalyst behind the decisions of multiple players to return for their final season, including quarterback Carson Beck. They also went out and landed the No. 1 class in the nation and brought in some key transfers. For those reasons, ESPN has the Bulldogs ranked as the top team in their Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings.

Georgia certainly has the team to justify the top ranking, but will they be able to run the table against an incredibly difficult schedule? According to the rankings, Georgia will face six top-25 teams in 2024 (@ Texas, @ Alabama, @ Ole Miss, Tennessee, (N) Clemson, and @ Kentucky). Just one of those games will be in Athens.
