Tiger Woods adds three big names to his TGL team in perfect response to Jon Rahm setback
Tiger Woods lost one of golf’s biggest names in Jon Rahm fro the TGL roster following his move to LIV Golf, but this has not stopped the PGA Tour star growing his own team
Tiger Woods has announced fellow PGA Tour stars Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner will join him on his TGL team Jupiter Links GC.
Woods is one of the innovative league’s co-founders alongside Rory McIlroy, and will represent his home town of Jupiter in the maiden campaign that gets underway in 2025. And five months after the 15-time major champion was named an owner of the Jupiter franchise, Woods has finally added to his team.
He will compete alongside a PGA Tour stalwart Kisner, as well as a six-time winner and Ryder Cup star Homa. One of golf’s hottest prospects in South Korean star Kim completes the four-man roster.
Despite the backing of some of the PGA Tour’s biggest names, things have been far from easy for TGL. Late last year, the tech-based league were forced to delay their launch by 12 months after damage to their purpose-built SoFi Center stadium ensured season one was knocked back from 2024 to 2025.
They also remain on the look out for two new additions to complete their roster too thanks to the lure of LIV Golf. Jon Rahm was the first to leave, after the Spaniard announced he had gone back on his word to compete on the TGL circuit, before opting make the Saudi switch.
Rahm then made the signing of Ryder Cup partner Hatton, who joined the two-time major champion as part as his newly-formed LIV team Legion XIII. Tyrrell Hatton too was apart of the TGL roster, but the Englishman has since been removed from the innovative league’s website amid his loyalties to the breakaway league.
“I have already shared my excitement and optimism for TGL as a league and product,” said Woods following the announcement of his teammates. “Now that we have finalised our roster with a team of world-class golfers, I am even more confident that this group will proudly represent the Jupiter area and connect with our fans for years to come.”
The in-form Homa will no doubt prove a savvy addition, having announced himself as one of the game’s top players in recent years. In the space of three years the American has seen his career catapult, having won five times in that time, whilst also impressing on his Ryder Cup debut last Autumn.
And getting the chance to team up with arguably golf’s greatest ever player is something Homa is more than looking forward to. “Following Tiger’s career is one of the main reasons that I became an avid golfer,” he commented. “I remember watching him win the 1997 Masters, and now getting to play alongside him has been amazing.
“It’s really exciting to call Tiger, Tom, and Kevin teammates. Thanks to TGL, I’ll be able to play with some of the best golfers in the world and bring this unique and exciting format to golf while also finding ways to connect with one of the best golf markets in the country in South Florida.”
