Chicago Sky Coach Justifies Cheap Shot On Caitlin Clark With Three Words

On Saturday, the Chicago Sky traveled to Indiana to face off against the Fever in one of the most anticipated WNBA matchups in recent memory.

The highly anticipated matchup between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese took center stage in this significant game, earning it a coveted spot on ESPN. Many fans that tuned in got to see a very physical, close, and intense game.

Sky guard Chennedy Carter brought the physicality too far, however. During an inbounds play, Carter shouldered Clark to the ground in what was deemed a cheap and dirty foul by many. Reese could be seen cheering on the foul from the bench.

After the game, Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon justified the cheap shot on Clark using three words, saying her players are just competing.

They’re just competing,” Weatherspoon said, “That’s all they’re doing is competing”

Competing or not, this foul was not a basketball play and should have received, at least, a technical foul.

The Sky will host the New York Liberty in their next match this coming Tuesday, while the Fever will play the Liberty just a few days before on Sunday.
