Team USA Released Statement About Caitlin Clark’s Olympic Stat

With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games quickly approaching, the Team USA women’s basketball roster has still yet to be announced.

The men’s team announced its star-studded roster on April 17, but the women’s roster is scheduled to be revealed at a “later date.”

Basketball fans are interested to see who makes this year’s Olympic team — specifically when it comes to the WNBA’s No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark.

Clark was invited to attend Team USA training camp in early April, but was unable to make it due to the Iowa Hawkeyes’ trip to the NCAA Tournament Final Four.

That absence did not eliminate Clark from consideration, though.

Team USA selection committee chair Jennifer Rizzotti discussed Clark’s status with the Olympic team during an interview with the Associated Press in April.

“You always want to introduce new players into the pool whether it’s for now or the future,” Rizzotti said. “We stick to our principles of talent, obviously, positional fit, loyalty and experience. It’s got to be a combination of an entire body of work. It’s still not going to be fair to some people.”

Team USA announced its women’s 3v3 team on Wednesday. Cameron Brink, Hailey Van Lith, Cierra Burdick and Rhyne Howard were selected for the roster.
