J.R. Smith sends ‘Brutal warning’ to Lakers top head coach candidate, Dan Hurley

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for their next head coach, with one of the favorites to land the job being UConn Huskies’ skipper Dan Hurley, as recent reports suggest that the team already approached him to negotiate contract terms.
As the Lakers and Hurley engage in discussions, the outcome of these talks remains shrouded in uncertainty. While both parties appear to be working towards a potential agreement, the final decision is still up in the air.
However, not everyone is thrilled about the possibility of Hurley taking the reins in Los Angeles. Former NBA player J.R. Smith, who played under Hurley at New Jersey’s St. Benedict’s Prep between 2002 and 2004, sent a dire warning to his former coach.

In a Twitter post, Smith said the following to Hurley regarding the Laker’s interest in signing him: ‘Don’t fall for it’.
The Lakers head coach job is considered a ‘hot seat’ around the NBA, as since Peter Jackson ended his second tenure in LA back in 2011, every head coach has lasted up to three seasons with the team, also coming with constant pressure.
LeBron James’ presence in the team also makes the job challenging, as he is known for creating and influencing decisions beyond his role as a player, something that maybe J.R. Smith knows a thing or two about it, as he played with him in the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016 to 2019.
