Evil gathering: Jon Rahm accuse Ryder Cup reunion as he explain his absence
Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll make public appearance as Jon Rahm absent from Ryder Cup reunion
Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll joined a number of the Northern Irishman’s Ryder Cup teammates and their partners ahead of his return at this week’s Scottish Open
Rory McIlroy has been pictured alongside his wife Erica Stoll and his Ryder Cup teammates, a month on from the couple announcing that their divorce had been cancelled.
After a three-week break, McIlroy is back in action this week as the Northern Irishman defends his Scottish Open title at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick. Ahead of the event, McIlroy was seen having dinner alongside members of Europe’s 2023 winning Ryder Cup team.
Around the table was Team Europe captain Luke Donald, as well as Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Nicolai Hojgaard. Also in the room was one of McIlroy’s LIV Golf rivals in Tyrrell Hatton, who played his role in Europe’s win over Team USA last October.
One man who was absent though was Hatton’s LIV captain Jon Rahm, who had proved a key member of Donald’s team at Marco Simone. The group also included the players’ partners, including Donald’s wife Dianne, who posted the group photo to her followers on Instagram.
McIlroy’s wife Stoll was included in the group, with the pair making a rare appearance in public together following their recent relationship troubles. Back in May in the build-up to the PGA Championship, it was announced that McIlroy had filed for divorce.
“Rory McIlroy’s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed,” a statement from the 35-year-old’s team read two months ago. It was later revealed in their divorce papers that the pair’s marriage was ‘irretrievably broken’, with a prenuptial agreement set to come into play, as well as joint-custody of their three-year-old daughter Poppy.
