Oregon mascot trolls Deion Sanders — but hilariously loses head in process
That’s not how Oregon planned this troll job, you’d like to think.
Before the highly anticipated Pac-12 matchup between the No. 10 Ducks and No. 19 Colorado, which ended with a 42-6 Oregon win, the Oregon Duck was dressed like Deion Sanders, donning a white cowboy hat and sunglasses as it entered Autzen Stadium.
The Colorado Buffaloes hype train is set to be derailed Saturday afternoon
But when the mascot tried to get a bit more cheeky by breaking a clock that had the word “Prime” on the side, in reference to Sanders, things went horribly awry.
When the duck took a swing at the clock with a bat or a stick, the mascot might’ve gotten a little overzealous as on the third whack the helmet from the costume popped off.
The mascot immediately then ran back inside the tunnel underneath the stands in what was a truly bizarre moment.
In what has been one of the most talked-about games of the week, Colorado got amped before the game and even stepped on the Oregon logo at midfield.
That came after Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders had called out Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule when his squad did something similar before a Week 2 game.
Things didn’t start off any better for Sanders and Colorado on the field, as they fell down 35-0 at halftime before dropping their first game of the year.
In a video ESPN showed during the broadcast, Oregon coach Dan Lanning was heard shading Sanders.
“Rooted in substance. Not flash, but rooted in substance,” Lanning said. “The Cinderella story is over They’re fighting for clicks. We’re fighting for wins.”
