Hamilton Admits discussing a contract switch with rivals.
As rumors of a possible switch circulated, Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he spoke with Ferrari.
He finally decided to extend his current Mercedes contract.
Despite being dissatisfied with his current vehicle, the seven-time world champion ended rumors about his future by committing to Mercedes through 2025.
During his seven dominant years with the Silver Arrows, Hamilton won six of his world championships.
However, two years ago, Max Verstappen and Red Bull upset Hamilton’s dominance.
A first in his Formula One career, Hamilton failed to win a race during the entire 2022 season as Mercedes struggled to keep up with their rivals’ pace.
The team faces difficulties this year as well because Hamilton seems unlikely to secure a victory.
Earlier this year, Hamilton’s name was mentioned in connection with a possible transfer to Ferrari, and he acknowledged speaking with them in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Blick.
He did, however, make it clear that Ferrari never actually made a contract offer.
Irrelevant conversations have definitely taken place, he admitted.
“I have a lot of good friends there.
To move to Italy, however, I had never felt ready.
“.
The lengthy length of the contract was revealed by Hamilton as his career progresses with Mercedes and he shared insights into the contract negotiations.
Of course, he said, “I want to know exactly what’s in there.
It was once 80 pages, but now it’s over 200 pages, or a darn book.
It takes you days to do that.
Given that their current W14 car struggles to keep up with Red Bull’s pace, Mercedes’ future course is still uncertain.
Toto Wolff, the team owner, has hinted at major changes, saying that the current vehicle might be scrapped because Mercedes drivers have yet to claim a victory and have only combined for six podium finishes this season.
