Report: Vikings could be ‘key player’ in ‘active trade deadline’
According to a report, the Vikings could play a significant role in the active trade deadline.
It may be a very active NFL trade deadline, according to SI’s Albert Breer.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated thinks that the Minnesota Vikings could be sold before the Oct.
31-day trade deadline.
Although the Vikings are 1-4 and will play their final four games without Justin Jefferson, this is by no means breaking news, Breer’s comments this week have a little more significance.
This is why.
.
“Let me put it this way.
I was told by some very knowledgeable NFL people back in April and May that they believed this trade deadline might be the busiest in a very long time.
And the reason why was due to the quarterback group showing up, Breer said during a Wednesday guest appearance on Colin Cowherd.
.
“I just think there are going to be some interesting conversations in some of these buildings where an owner could get all giddy about getting a Caleb Williams or a Drake Maye, so I think that could lead to some pretty interesting dynamics over the next couple of weeks.
“.
The Vikings are looking at a strong possibility of a 2-5 or 1-6 record heading into the final week before the Halloween trade deadline with the Bears and 49ers on the schedule.
.
“How about Minnesota, what would you get for Danielle Hunter?
Forget Kirk Cousins, how about a top-tier pass rusher.”. What could you get Harrison Smith, Danielle Hunter, K., and Danielle Hunter?
J.
Because Jordan Addison is on the other side of him and Justin Jefferson needs to be paid, you might not be willing to pay Osborn, a really good slot receiver in a contract year, according to Breer.
.
Teams with not-objectively-bad rosters like Minnesota and Denver, in my opinion, have pieces to trade and may end up being key players at the trade deadline in a different capacity than in the past—as sellers rather than buyers.
