Jerry Jones compares Brock Purdy to Kellen Moore ahead of Cowboys’ clash with Chargers
As the Cowboys prepare to face the Chargers, Jerry Jones compares Brock Purdy to Kellen Moore.
In the interim between games against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is thinking about Brock Purdy and Kellen Moore.
Jones sees many similarities between Moore, the former Cowboys offensive coordinator, and Purdy after watching Purdy dominate his Cowboys 42-10 in person last week.
Jones claimed that Moore, who is currently calling offensive plays for the Chargers, reminds him a lot of Purdy during a radio interview on 105.3 The Fan. Jones claimed that while neither player physically jumps off the page, their high football IQs enable them to compete at a high level.
You know, I immediately think of Kellen when I see (Brock) Purdy perform the way he does, Jones said.
“I consider Kellen and what a great quarterback he was.
We had Kellen, who I believe won (50 of 53) college football games.
You might ask, “Does he have the arm talent?,” “Does he have the size?,” or “Does he have the speed?”.
Even though Purdy didn’t quite have that many players, they were football experts. They were competent operators.
“.
When you compare their respective NFL careers, the comparison isn’t quite accurate. Moore played in just three games for the Cowboys after a stellar collegiate career with Boise State, completing 58.7 percent of his passes for 779 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions.
In the 10 NFL games that he has already started, Purdy has thrown for 69.3 percent completions, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Jones isn’t particularly excited to face Moore and the potent Chargers defense this weekend after witnessing Purdy rip through the Cowboys defense for 252 yards and four touchdowns.
Jones said, “I have dreaded seeing Kellen on this occasion.
As far as people go, Kelen is one of my favorites.
A gifted coach, he is. Clearly, this is the case.
“.
Moore left the Cowboys during the previous offseason to become the offensive coordinator for the Chargers.
Jones admitted responsibility when Moore was questioned about leaving for the same position on another team.
Jones claimed, “I had everything to do with that.”.
Jones clarified that he wanted head coach Mike McCarthy to make play calls, something he typically would have done if Moore hadn’t been on the staff when McCarthy was hired in 2020.
This weekend, Moore will have the chance to exact some retribution on his former team.
