Rathbone appeared to be on a fast track to a spot on the Canucks NHL roster in his first pro season with Abbotsford, but that never really materialized.
Rathbone had 40 points in 39 games. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound rearguard, who is 24 years old, had one goal and one assist in 11 games with Vancouver before falling off in the AHL, where he only managed five goals and nine assists in 37 games.

Hampus Lindholm, Matt Grzelcyk, Derek Forbort, and Jakub Zboril are all expected to be left-handed defensemen for the Boston Bruins this season, with rookie Mason Lohrei joining the mix as well.
