Braves release official list of potential trade candidate
The Braves’ focus should be on adding talent, not moving it.
However, there are many players at the club who don’t fit the long-term picture, which presents an opportunity to trade chips for the right deal.
Michael Soroka
Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter mentioned Michael Soroka in a recent article, and I agree.
He has no choice, which means the Warriors can no longer move him between Gwinnett and Atlanta.
Soroka needs to be on the major league roster, and if he struggles, the Braves aren’t necessarily a threat they can handle.
Alex Anthopoulos could decide not to offer Soroka, making him a free agent.
The best course of action would be to fix something in his final year of arbitration and then trade him for something that will better help the Braves win. My first thought was that this would be a life saver. Soroka may not have much trade value, but a rebuilding club could give Soroka a much longer period of time to figure out at the major league level and what a rebuilding team can offer him in -a change?
holding.
Eddie Rosario
Rosario’s situation is similar to Soroka’s. He has a $9 million option for 2024 that the Braves can opt out of and let him go. However, Rosario is a tremendous value player given his one-year, $9 million contract. The Braves have to take it and decide their future.
They could keep him for another year or trade him for something if they want to move in another direction on the left side.
It’s a better choice than leaving her alone.
Vaughan Grissom
We talked yesterday about the possibility of the Braves moving Grissom and it might be time for the Braves to trade.
Especially if you think Orlando Arcia will be the starting shortstop next season.
Grissom’s injury prepares him for the major leagues. He hit .330 with a .920 OPS as a 22-year-old in Gwinnett this year.
It’s special at any age, but especially at 22.
The problem is, he can’t play anywhere for the Braves.
Now is the time to make room for Alex Anthopoulos to either get routine reps in Atlanta or trade him for something that will help the Braves win.
Marcel Ozuna
Are you selling Marcell Ozuna high?
If the Warriors want to shake things up and make a big move, this could be an option.
I don’t know what kind of comeback Ozuna will have, but I think he will have some competition after he has a 40 home run, 100 run season.
I don’t think the Braves will trade Big Bear, but securing his $16 million salary in 2024 could be attractive.
maximum pride
Given the state of the Braves rotation and how important Max Fried has been to the team since entering the league, I doubt he’s been traded.
But at least we have to talk.
Freed is entering the final year of his contract and it’s impossible to tell if there have been serious discussions about an extension.
The Braves let Freddie Freeman and Dansby Swanson retire from Atlanta.
Maybe they don’t want to repeat that song and dance or take something instead of Fried.
I doubt they will find anything better than Max Fried to help them win the 2024 World Series.
So it doesn’t seem like the right decision, but who knows?
I’m sure they’ll get at least a few calls about their availability.
The NFC South was expected to be a three-team contest.
It was the same in Week 6 and Thursday Night Football, except it was between the Falcons, Saints and Buccaneers instead of the struggling Panthers.
Carolina has yet to beat Bryce Young at No. 1 overall.
The Heisman Trophy winner isn’t the answer yet, but his supporting cast leaves a lot to be desired.
The Panthers, who have no playoff hopes in 2023, are weighing the trade market ahead of the deadline.
It would be foolish for Carolina to let one contract expire while the other contract increases in value as it remains under team control through 2024.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the call for Terrace Marshall Jr. has been approved.
The LSU product has 16 catches for 114 yards in five games this season, including two starts. Since being drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Marshall has recorded 104 catches, 742 yards and a touchdown.
But he is not alone.
Carolina won’t sell the farm, but will listen to offers, including safety Jeremy Chinn, Fowler said. The veteran suffered a quad injury that complicated things, but he should be back before the end of the season.
Fowler said he is interested in Chin, who is in his contract year.
Additionally, according to Fowler, the Panthers have shown interest in Donte Jackson, but Fowler says he is less available than Chinn and Marshall.
He’s a quality corner with a reasonable contract: $1.08 million in base salary this year, $4 million in base salary in 2024 and $5.7 million in roster and per-game bonuses.
The Falcons’ division rivals aren’t making a strong sell, but it’s clear the Panthers are looking to the future and won’t play until 2023 after they expect to compete with the Falcons and Saints for the NFC South.
