After being expelled from Team Garage, Nico Rosberg threatens Max Verstappen.
Rosberg is a well-known figure in the pit lane as a former F1 driver, 2016 world champion with Mercedes, and a member of the Sky F1 presenting team.
Just don’t let him take a selfie with you.
As Max Verstappen’s remarkable winning streak continues, Nico Rosberg made light of the fact that he might have to make the Dutchman the next victim of his “curse.”.
Last Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix was won by the Red Bull driver, who outperformed pole-sitter Carlos Sainz. It was the longest winning streak in Formula 1 history, with 10 straight victories.
Although Sainz and Charles Leclerc gave it their all, the Red Bulls were simply too strong to overcome.
Many in the Monza crowd were dreaming of a famous Ferrari victory.
The Scuderia’s inability to win from pole was primarily due to a performance gap, but Rosberg’s peculiar social media phenomenon may also have had some bearing.
A custom of the German’s is to take a selfie before a race and post it to Instagram. But F1 fans have noticed that whenever he positions himself in front of a car or garage, the driver who fills it usually experiences some bad luck in the Grand Prix.
The most recent instance occurred at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton started from the front row.
The seven-time world champion then fell from first to fourth on the opening lap of the race after taking a picture in front of the garage of his former Mercedes teammate.
He took his selfie at Monza without selecting a particular garage, opting instead for a broad view of the racetrack and pit lane in the background.
However, he captioned the picture “Forza Ferrari,” which caused fans to accuse him of “cursing” the Italian team.
Rosberg joked that perhaps he should take a selfie in front of the garage of the unstoppable Verstappen the next time, despite his insistence that he doesn’t deliberately try to pick a particular driver or team.
Because he didn’t want to cause any trouble, he tried to create a neutral background over the weekend.
“This is the curse thing,” he said.
“[I wrote] Forza Ferrari because the weekend is focused on that and we’re all rooting for Ferrari to win.
I believe it would be rude if I later posed for a photo with Max [Verstappen] before a race.
However, I’ll still carry it out.
The most recent instance of Rosberg’s “cursing” comes after McLaren raced conservatively in the Belgian Grand Prix.
We’ve seen your jinxing powers, @NicoRosberg.
We taped a sign that read: “No Rosberg selfies” to the front of our garage after seeing what had happened to Hamilton the weekend before in Budapest.
