Daniel Ricciardo is in danger as AlphaTauri decides on the Liam Lawson plan after the Singapore GP.

As a replacement for the injured Ricciardo, Lawson continued to excel and achieved the challenging Singapore night race’s best finish for AlphaTauri so far in 2023.

In the “next few days,” AlphaTauri intends to decide on their driver lineup for 2024.

Following the Singapore Grand Prix, Chief Executive Officer Peter Bayer spoke to German-language television and provided that timeline. He was thinking about Liam Lawson’s outstanding performance in just his third Formula 1 race.

Since breaking his hand at Zandvoort last month, Daniel Ricciardo has been replaced by the New Zealander.
Shortly after, the Australian underwent surgery, and he is currently recuperating while not playing.

Ricciardo traveled to Singapore where he assumed an engineering position while Lawson carried on with the racing.
For the 21-year-old, it was a weekend to remember as he earned his first F1 world championship points.

He achieved AlphaTauri’s best result of the season thus far by coming in ninth.
Ricciardo failed to score in either of his appearances, while Nyck de Vries went without a point in 10 outings before being fired.
Yuki Tsunoda has three 10th-place finishes to his credit.

The outcome in Singapore has increased pressure on AlphaTauri to give Lawson a seat in the 2024 race.
In that case, either Ricciardo or Tsunoda would lose their spots on the grid, which could be a fatal blow to both of their F1 aspirations.

When Ricciardo heals, he will retake his position, but that won’t happen until at least Qatar next month, as Lawson will once again fill in for him this weekend in Japan.
However, AlphaTauri might have already decided on his future in Formula One by that point.
