Huge claim is made by Massa’s attorney to challenge Hamilton’s 2008 victory.

There is still more information to be revealed, according to Felipe Massa’s attorney, who is investigating whether the FIA hid the facts surrounding the “crashgate” incident to prevent a scandal in the sport.

The incident known as “Crashgate” occurred at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, when Nelson Piquet Jr.’s Renault team instructed him to deliberately crash in order to aid teammate Fernando Alonso in winning the race.

After Piquet was fired from the Renault team following the 2009 Hungarian GP and made the decision to come clean about what his team had asked him to do, the events weren’t made public for almost a year.

Renault was found to be guilty after an investigation, and many important employees received fines and disqualifications.
However, the drama continued on.

Massa filed a lawsuit against the FIA and FOM after former Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone claimed this year that he and former FIA president Max Mosley were aware of Piquet and Renault’s wrongdoing long before it was made public, but chose to do nothing to shield the sport from a scandal.

The outcome of the race might have been thrown out if an investigation had been launched right away following the events of that Sunday afternoon, meaning Lewis Hamilton’s third place and Massa’s 12th place after pit stop issues during the safety car that was brought on by Piquet’s crash, wouldn’t have counted.

As it turned out, Hamilton defeated Massa by one point to win the 2008 world championship. Massa and his legal team are now requesting that the verdict be overturned.

The goal, according to Bernardo Viana of the law office in Sao Paulo that represents Massa, Vieira Rezende Advogados, is to bring the trophy home; it’s not financial.

“To get there, a number of steps will be taken with various goals in mind, some to gather data and others to gather statements.
We want the truth to be revealed about everything that occurred in 2008 and 2009.
“.

The FIA and FOM have so far declined to comment on the Massa case while legal procedures are ongoing.

Lawyers for Massa are “quite confident.”.

The ramifications of changing a world championship result from 15 years ago are enormous, not the least of which is the fact that Hamilton would only have six world championships instead of the record-tying seven.

Although it is generally believed that world championships cannot be reversed years later, Massa’s attorneys do not agree with this notion.

Bernie Ecclestone has since claimed that he “can’t remember” the interview in which he made the damning remarks in an effort to distance himself from the controversy.

Even though neither Massa nor Hamilton are to blame, the scope of what went wrong in the first-ever night race in Formula One is truly enormous.

When Alonso made the decision to pit for new tires, Massa was already in the lead. When he emerged from the pits, one of his teammates crashed into the barriers, bringing out a safety car.

The majority of drivers then rushed into the pits to change their tires, but because Alonso had already pitted, he didn’t need to do so again and moved up to the top of the leaderboard, while Massa, who made a slow stop, fell to the bottom of the list.

By chance, this also benefited Hamilton, who drove the Williams to finish third, behind Alonso and Nico Rosberg.

This is a very controversial topic because Hamilton’s first world championship is disputed and his victory was only decided by one point that season.

The defense team for Massa is confident that they will prevail in the conflict.

Without prejudice to the additional ones we are looking for and without prejudice to everything that will come to light, “We are quite confident in the evidence we have. We are aware that there is still additional information that is not available to the public.
