A 15-year feud was rekindled by Sergio Garcia’s dig at Rory McIlroy, a former Ryder Cup teammate.

The legendary golfer Sir Nick Faldo responded to Sergio Garcia’s prior remarks about Rory McIlroy and the Ryder Cup in response to the former’s comments about LIV Golf.

In response to Sergio Garcia’s remarks about former Ryder Cup teammate Rory McIlroy, legendary golfer Sir Nick Faldo delivered a sharp rejoinder.

When Team Europe competed in the Ryder Cup in the past, Garcia and McIlroy were close friends and teammates.
The two’s friendship, however, broke down when Garcia decided to participate in the 2022 Saudi-funded LIV Golf tournament.

When it comes to his criticism of LIV Golf, McIlroy has frequently been outspoken. The Northern Irishman is still playing on the PGA Tour and is working with Tiger Woods to launch their own new golf league, the TGL.

McIlroy will attempt to assist Team Europe in reclaiming the prestigious Ryder Cup at this year’s competition.
But Garcia is one of several LIV Golf athletes who won’t be representing either Team Europe or Team USA at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Italy.

Garcia discussed the reasons for the conflict between him and McIlroy as well as their friendship.
Garcia charged McIlroy with “lacking maturity” in an interview from February.

Garcia told the Telegraph in February 2023, “I think it is very sad.
“I feel like we’ve done so much together and experienced so much that for him to disregard that just because I chose to attend a different tour, well, it doesn’t seem very mature; lacking maturity, really.

But Rory has a life of his own and makes his own decisions just as I do. I respect his decisions, but it seems that he doesn’t respect mine.
Hence, a one-way street.
“.

Faldo, who was paying attention to these remarks, felt compelled to respond.
On social media in February of this year, Faldo posted: “Now this is rich coming from the most immature player I’ve ever witnessed!”.

Garcia participated in the 2008 Ryder Cup as a member of Team Europe, which was captained by Faldo.
At Valhalla, Europe lost to the US, and Garcia only managed to earn one point from two split games.

Faldo, a three-time winner of the Masters, was asked to describe Garcia’s contributions to Ryder Cups in 2014 while he was covering the event at Gleneagles in Scotland.
Terry Gannon of the Golf Channel praised Garcia’s contributions as “spectacular” before Faldo chimed in, “Yes, except for one.
“.

Regarding the US tournament in 2008, Faldo continued, “He was useless.”.
“Fifty percent, negative attitude.
We continue, however, after six years.
”.
